Something I would like to see is support for privoxy: http://www.privoxy.org/ . This act as a proxy and is thus compatible with any browser (that support proxies i.e. any browser) (on Linux and Windows) which make a this pretty generic solution. It should be relatively easy to put a blocklist in the privoxy syntax. Conversion from a simple format (i.e. opera or iron) should be easy to do with a simple script. Are there any chance that privoxy will be supported in the future?

you can use the opera list for privoxy but involves some modification.

I tried it in the past and the modifications I did are

privoxy doesn't like filters that end with ?* so I replaced ?* with *

also you need to remove http:// and https:// in front of filters at the start as Privoxy doesn't work properly with them.

Privoxy can't block ads served via HTTPS unless it is a subdomain / domain block. This is due to the way TLS/SSL works.

I have made a script that converts from the opera list to Privoxy. As I said in the Archlinux forum, the main difficulty is that Privoxy treat the domain part and the path of the URL as two different components with different way of matching (re for the path, shell pattern for the domain) while in opera the URL match as a whole (see my post in https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=150302 and my script at http://freeshell.de/~oesser/scripts/ )

How to run that script on Windows? And the desired list is Fanboy Ultimate.

Unfortunately, there is no "Fanboy Ultimate" mega-compilation for Opera, but you can at least try the Main+Tracking list for Eng+Esp+Port: https://secure.fanboy.co.nz/adblock/ope ... filter.ini

Anyway, to use this script, save the latest version (with the "0.3" at the end, as of this post) with the ".py" ending, and then install Python 2 from python.org (not Python 3, the syntax is incompatible): http://python.org/download/releases/2.7.3/

After that, run a command prompt, go to the directory where you saved that script, and go to town; it starts with the command python <name of script>
